Condition of ATF fluid?

I just changed ATF in our 1995 BMW 525 at 113,000 miles. I wonder if there is some way to measure the vital characteristics of ATF. Assign some sort of grade to it so to speak. I just get curious about this and power steering fluid too. I am thinking of how much of its life is spent.Condition of ATF fluid?
If you did just a drain and fill, then you didn't do too much. If you had a transmission flush done at a shop, I would say 95-97 percent of the fluid was changed, if you just did a drain and fill yourself, figure you changed about 30 percent of it.Condition of ATF fluid?
Atf and clear p/s fluid are a 10w oil of the same, the difference is that atf uses a detergent to extend the life and viscosity.Condition of ATF fluid?
Tranny fluid is good for a looong time, maybe 50K. If you check it and it looks brown, it's time for a change. I don't know of any test that can be done, but it's a great thought.Condition of ATF fluid?
i can't tell anything that you can use to test it at home short of smelling it. if you smell it and it smells burnt its burnt and should be discarded. one problem with ATF is that it does not hold a lot of heat energy so even though its good to high temp it does often get too hot under harsh use and oxidize. i wonder now too if there are other ways of testing it.
