Will changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?

When I turn I sometimes feel like it could be a little bit easier. A couple of times I've heard a moaning sound when I turn which concerns me as well. I checked my power steering fluid and I noticed that it is at a good level, but it is very dark. I've read a lot about how it is useless to change your p.s. fluid and I've read that it can be a good thing. I don't know what to do. Can changing my power steering fluid really help my turns? Will changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?
No but it is a good thing to do every 35-40k

check you belt make sure its tight

if its moaning on turns the pump is starting to go have a good repubale shop look at it and check the pump pressure

if it doe's go you will still be able to steere but it will hard so be carefull good luck BRADWill changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?
changing the fluid won't make any difference. Depending on the type car, the occasional moaning is normal(usually fords)

If the steering is too tight, you pump might be failing. Will changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?
Check your tires. If one or both are low It will feel like something is wrong with your power steering. Will changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?
Ok - First off the two boffoons that say flushing the P/S fluid does not matter are idiots and not car people. They probably go to Auto Zone when their %26quot;Check Engine%26quot; light flares up and believe that crap from tha other idiot that is trained like a circus monkey to pull codes. 'Nuff said there.

People do and will notice a change in the resistance in P/S when the fluid is flushed %26quot;Properly%26quot;, your problem may require some repairs. Fluid may be leaking into the bellows of the Rack and Pinion unit or fluid just may be leaking allowing air into the system causing the stiffness and moaning. The moron that says it only happens to Ford vehicles is just that, a freakin' moron! Get it checked for leaks and yes flush it out - Dirt and sediment does form in any fluid. There is no such thing as a sealed unit - Crap will get in any hydraulic system. Will changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?
I like the dude's thing. I would take your car to a front end shop and have the upper and lower ball joints checked. most of the time if the rest of the components of the steering are working correctly ( no leaks or loud squealing noises from the power steering pump ) this could be the cause. this is one area of the steering that often gets over looked and is very difficult to check. Will changing my power steering fluid lessen the tightness of my steering wheel when I turn?
The fluid lubricates and transfer heat, creates pressure to make turning of the wheels easier. It will not fix any mechanical problems you may have .
