How to change power steering fluid in mini van?

Can anyone tell me how to change the power steering fluid in my mercury villager. it makes a horrible noise when turning and i believe the fluid needs to be changed because it looks really gross. is this some thing i can do myself or do i have to go to a mechanic because i have no money right now.How to change power steering fluid in mini van?
Sounds like the pump is failing and needs replaced. Changing the fluid probably won't stop the pump from making noise. The fluid turns brown when it is overheating probably due to cavitation in the pump. How to change power steering fluid in mini van?
get a 5 dolar suction gun from the auto store suck it out and replace it run it then suck it out again and replace it get a good adative for p steering it might helpHow to change power steering fluid in mini van?
Here's how I do it. Get 2 quarts of new fluid. With the van off, suck the reservoir dry and fill it with new. Start the van up and turn the wheel left to right and/or let it run for a minute then shut it off and repeat the process over and over until the 2 quarts of new fluid is gone. Remember to leave some new fluid for the last fill/top off.

Once your done, the fluid should look nice and clean.

BTW, The fluid will drop slightly when started so if you put some in after it's running, then you shut it off the level can raise and flow over the top some so be careful of that.

There's nothing too unhook, It's a no mess deal and no air, or atleast minimal air is allowed in the system.

If the fluid should look 'bubbly' from air on the last fill just let it run. It's normal to take 5 or 10 minutes for the air to dissapate and the fluid to look normal.

Also, I've seen alot of fluid changes quiet alot of pumps so it's the first thing i'd do for sure. How to change power steering fluid in mini van?
you can change it yourself .take the power stering line off of the steering sector and drain the fluid .be sure to turn wheels left to right with the van not running that will push the fluid out of the sector.to replace the fluid fill the resivoir up and let the van idle turn wheels slowly left to right then recheck fluid .add as needed.if that dont work and your fluid lookes milky you will need a new pump
